College of Engineering

Bachelor of Science (BS), Electrical Engineering

Program Overview

The Electrical Engineering program at Anderson University focuses on the study, design, and application of electrical systems and devices. You’ll work with generation, transmission, distribution, and uses of electrical energy. You’ll learn to design efficient power distribution systems and develop cutting-edge electronic devices. Electrical engineers are constantly challenged to find creative solutions. In this program, you’ll gain the skills needed to work with a wide range of technologies and applications, including power, energy, and satellite systems, electronics, control systems, signal processing, and nanotechnology. Electrical engineering is a broad degree that allows you to move into virtually any field. Program Education Outcomes. Student Outcomes.

Before you graduate you will be exposed to four different programming/CAD languages (Python, C++, MATLBAB, and SolidWorks). Anderson University’s electrical engineering program is unique because it teaches you about macroelectronics, rather than just electronics, and has a focus on interfacing hardware and software. You’ll learn the design of embedded systems using Raspberry Pi and SIMULINK and master the concept of Integrated Circuits (IC) development. Our program will also teach you to see the relationship between electrical designs, science, and public policy.

As an Electrical Engineering student you will be prepared for a wide range of careers including electronics engineering, power systems engineering, telecommunications engineering, control systems engineering, and electrical engineering. Starting salaries for candidates with a Bachelor of Science in degree range from $60,000 to $90,000. If you choose to attend graduate school instead of going directly into the workforce, possible graduate programs include degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Photonics, Power Systems Engineering, and Robotics.

Why AU?

The core concepts of Anderson University engineering curriculum are entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability. Our liberal arts foundation allows for scientific technology, engineering, math, and public policy courses to enhance that curriculum. This program also includes classes from connecting academic fields such as biology to further your understanding of electrical engineering. The unique structure of our curriculum provides you with exposure to hands-on engineering design classes starting your first year of the program. These concepts and academic subjects will be taught through classroom and one-on-one mentorship experiences with faculty members who are experienced and active in the engineering field. You will also have opportunities to experience and provide peer mentoring as you progress through the program. As you develop and work on projects throughout your four years you will also be encouraged and supported with grant opportunities.
