Campus Safety

Authority Statement

The Anderson University Campus Safety Department is a hybrid agency, employing Law Enforcement and State certified Security Officers. The Law Enforcement Officers are South Carolina (Class 1) State Constables, trained and certified by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. Campus Safety Security Officer authority is derived from the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), licensed as a Business of Proprietary Security. Officers are trained and registered by a state approved instructor, and being licensed by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), have the same powers and authority as Deputy Sheriffs (South Carolina State law 40-18-80), including the authority to make arrests for misdemeanors and felonies (South Carolina State Law 40-18-110), and the authority to be armed (South Carolina State Law 40-18-100).

In the event of a campus emergency, the Anderson University community will be notified through email, and RAVE Notification system. The Emergency Response team is constantly evaluating new technologies for communication as they emerge.
