Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner (BSN-DNP)

Program Overview

The Doctor of Nursing Practice mostly online FNP track is a 73 credit hour, nine semester program designed to train nurses for the Family Nurse Practitioner role and the ability to sit for a national certification exam with the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Students will start with core curriculum and complete 600 clinical hours in the first four semesters then transition into the DNP Scholarly Project preparatory courses and work on 500 additional clinical hours mostly designed in project completion. Students come to campus for 2-3 days each semester to meet with faculty, interact with their classmates, and learn new skills to help them to be successful in their field. These on campus experiences may be reduced after the first 4 semesters with reduced time on campus but may still be needed for students to gain assistance with their project.

As the medical field changes, having a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree is quickly becoming the standard for nurse practitioners. In addition to the rewarding work of being a primary care provider, you’ll receive excellent compensation. Average salaries range from $90,000 to $110,000.
