Program Overview

The Ph.D. in Leadership: Higher Education concentration equips you to make your mark as an effective educator and leader. You will learn what it means to engage in rigorous scholarship and research as you develop proficiency in team and employee management, industry-specific knowledge and trends, and leadership strategy and practice. These skills will prepare you to lead complex organizations well and make a difference in higher education.

There are a number of exciting career paths available for graduates of this degree, including positions in educational research and development, non-profit educational organizations leadership, and college and university faculty or administration. Are you ready to explore how you can make a difference as a leader in higher education?

Admission Requirements
Any master’s degree of 30 or more hours from a regionally accredited institution is required for acceptance into this program.
Official graduate transcripts will need to be submitted as part of the application process for this program.

This program requires three professional references.
• Graduate Writing Sample:
Submit one of your former graduate-level essays (term paper, thesis, major project, etc.) that displays your writing ability.
• Statement of Purpose/Research Intent to include reasons for pursuing the Ph.D. in Leadership, including research interests and/or career goals & experiences shaping current research interests or career goals.

Why AU?

AU’s Ph.Din Leadership, Higher Education concentration, focuses on preparing its graduates to be scholars while simultaneously developing their skills and competencies as leaders. Faculty teach from a Christian worldviewwhich provides an ethical and moral framework on which leadership principles are based. The research-based dissertation allows the student to leave the program with a publishable piece of research relative to the field of higher education leadership. The program is competitively priced, and, at 48 semester hours, can be completed more quickly than other programs.
