Bachelor of Science (BS), Kinesiology: Athletic Training

Program Overview

The Traditional Undergraduate Kinesiology: Athletic Training concentration will help you find a career exploring the science of human motion while helping others reach their physical potential. You’ll leave Anderson with knowledge of sports psychology, strength and conditioning, advanced nutrition, and orthopedic evaluation, which will prepare you for positions in athletic training, strength and conditioning, and wellness. You’ll also receive training in soft skills, such as patient/clinic interaction and job interview etiquette. This major could lead to a career as a corporate wellness coordinator, sports performance specialist, personal trainer, senior center activities director, cardiac rehabilitation specialist, or clinic manager.

During the Athletic Training concentration program you will learn to evaluate specific trends and to identify specific strategies to aid your future clients and patients. You’ll learn to improve their health and fitness with nutrition plans, strength and conditioning protocols, orthopedic evaluation, and rehabilitation strategies.

If you are interested in pursuing a career in Athletic Training, you will have to attend a nationally accredited Athletic Training master’s program before you take the Board of Certification exam. Once you have passed, you will be licensed to practice as a Certified Athletic Trainer. Athletic trainers are vital to athletic programs, the military, and industrial settings as well. As an athletic trainer, you are often the first-responder to injuries and will have the skills needed to provide life-saving treatment. You’ll also have experience in injury prevention, diagnosis, and rehabilitation.
