College of Health Professions

Bachelor of Science (BS), Kinesiology: Pre-Physical Therapy

Program Overview

The Traditional Undergraduate Kinesiology: Pre-Physical Therapy concentration will help you find a career exploring the science of human motion while helping others reach their physical potential. You’ll have experience critiquing movement patterns and analyzing gait, evaluating and performing injury assessments and orthopedic tests, while also receiving training on the soft skills needed in the field, such as patient/client interaction, listening, and critical thinking. You’ll graduate with hours of practical experience to make you stand out as a candidate for graduate schools. This major could lead to a career as a physical therapist, cardiac rehabilitation specialist, or clinic manager.

With a concentration in pre-physical therapy you can expect to attend a doctorate level physical-therapy program before you take your national boards. After passing your boards you will be qualified to work in any physical therapy clinic, hospital, rehabilitation facility, or sports performance clinic. Salaries for physical therapists vary but the average starting salary in South Carolina ranges from $65,000-$70,000.
