Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), Theatre: Acting

Program Overview

The Theatre: Acting concentration is designed to give you the rigorous training necessary to be a professional actor, along with a strong liberal arts education. You’ll be trained to release and nurture your creative spirit through improvisation, intellectual stimulation, and faculty mentorship. Similar to a conservatory program, you’ll learn performance methods and techniques for professional acting. You will study advanced acting techniques, experiment in our Actor’s Lab, and study vocal and movement techniques for the actor. This program could lead to a career onstage or behind the scenes as an arts administrator, drama teacher, broadcaster, talent agent, or producer.

No previous degree is required to enroll in this program.
Official high school or GED transcripts will need to be submitted as part of the application process for this program. Transfer students must submit official transcripts from their previous school.

Two essays (prompts) or official SAT, ACT, or CLT scores are required during the application process.
Anderson University has a rolling admission process (students are notified when the are accepted whenever that is during the year) but students are encouraged to apply by the following dates: December 1st for the best scholarship consideration and no later than July 1st to begin in the fall semester.

Why AU?
Our conservatory-style program will challenge every actor to think outside the box and to connect to each and every character that the play. Our advanced acting techniques explore the teachings of Stanislavski, Adler, Hagen, Meisner, and Michael Chekhov. In our Voice and Movement classes, you’ll study Linklater, Berry, Laban, and Suzuki, among many others. In your Senior year, as a capstone experience, you’ll have a chance to audition for talent agents and casting directors during our annual showcase in NYC.
