Bachelor of Music (BM), Commercial Music

Program Overview

The Commercial Music program will help you build strong foundations on commercial music repertoire, techniques, and music theory. You’ll become confident in leading and performing in music ensembles, songwriting, improvisation, and music technology. You’ll take courses like Commercial Music Seminar, where industry professionals will give you firsthand advice, and Entrepreneurship for Musicians, where you’ll learn how to understand contracts and royalties, touring, and selling music and merchandise through a website. You’ll be equipped for a career in performance, production, music therapy, arranging and orchestration, audio engineering, music publicity, or music management.

No previous degree is required to enroll in this program.

Two essays (prompts) or official SAT, ACT, or CLT scores are required during the application process.
Anderson University has a rolling admission process (students are notified when the are accepted whenever that is during the year) but students are encouraged to apply by the following dates: December 1st for the best scholarship consideration and no later than July 1st to begin in the fall semester.

Why AU?
We have a small, close-knit music faculty, so you’ll receive one-on-one attention from your professors. While other programs rely on teaching assistants to teach classes, your classes will be taught by AU faculty members with experience in the industry. The Johnny Mann Center for Commercial Music also hosts industry professionals to teach students masterclasses and share career information each semester.
