Master of Science (M.S.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Program Overview
In the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, you’ll learn evidence-based practices for serving others as a counselor or therapist with a Christian foundation. You’ll complete coursework in topics such as counseling theories and techniques, couples counseling, grief counseling, and psychodiagnostics. You’ll also gain real-world experience with a practicum and two internships. Upon graduation, you’ll be prepared to pursue licensure in the state of South Carolina as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). This program is designed to for the working adult and can be completed online.
Upon graduation from the program, you will be equipped to apply evidence-based theories to real-world situations as a counselor. You’ll have gained experience in self-reflection and self-awareness that allow you to create a caring and ethical counseling practice. You will have acquired the knowledge necessary to diagnose and treat a broad range of mental health issues both in individual and group counseling contexts.
Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduates may choose to work as counselors in a variety of contexts, including clinical settings, church ministries, para-church ministries, private practices, or hospital settings.

- Accreditation Information
Our Clinical Mental Health Counseling program is pursuing accreditation with CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs). Please note that upon program completion, students will be immediately eligible for licensure in South Carolina. Since each state has its own licensing requirements, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the specific regulations in the state where you plan to practice.
