The Anderson University College of Arts and Sciences is launching a new master’s degree program that will equip graduates to become a licensed counselor grounded in Christian principles and evidence-based best practices.
The new master’s program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, offered online through the Behavioral Sciences Department of the Anderson University College of Arts and Sciences, will help individuals prepare for careers with the potential of making positive community impact.
Master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling graduates may choose to work as counselors in a variety of contexts, including clinical settings, church ministries, para-church ministries, private practices, or hospital settings.
Graduates of the program will be equipped to apply evidence-based theories to real-world situations as a counselor. Upon completion of the program, they will have gained experience in self-reflection and self-awareness—qualities essential to creating a caring and ethical counseling practice. Graduates will also acquire the knowledge necessary to diagnose and treat a broad range of mental health issues and treat those problems in both individual and group counseling contexts. Graduates will be prepared to pursue licensure in the state of South Carolina as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
The 60-hour program is scheduled to launch in the Fall 2025 semester.
