Bachelor of Arts (BA), Dance

Program Overview

The Dance program is ​a diverse, performance-intensive program designed to prepare you for a career in dance, musical theatre, cruise ship or theme park ​performance, graduate school, dance therapy, or dance instruction.​ Your studies require 120 credit hours, through which you’ll study ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, and tap dance. You’ll have opportunities to perform in our Fall and Spring Mainstage Dance Concerts, Student Showcase, Christmas First Night, President’s Gala, student choreographed senior projects, and two musicals. This program emphasizes a rigorous studio curriculum that incorporates a strong liberal arts education and understanding of movement. You’ll also take kinesiology courses to gain skills in the care and prevention of exercise injuries.

*There is a Dance minor available if your major is in a different area of study.

Additional Admission Requirements

You will be required to audition by participating in a ballet technique assessment class and performing a solo in a style of your choosing. You will also be interviewed by the program Director and members of the Dance faculty.

Anderson University has a rolling admission process (students are notified when the are accepted whenever that is during the year) but students are encouraged to apply by the following dates: December 1st for the best scholarship consideration and no later than July 1st to begin in the fall semester.
