At Anderson, there were 377 participants and $14,299 was raised.

According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Anderson University had the highest rate of participation among seven walks organized across South Carolina, and the second highest amount of funds raised.

The South Carolina Chapter reports that this year was a record year for Campus Walks. A total of seven walks took place across the state, involving more than a thousand walkers, composed of students, faculty and community members. This year’s walk raised $61,000 statewide.

Alley Pridmore, social media manager for Anderson University’s Thrive Wellness Center and a student majoring in Communication-Digital Media and minoring in Dance, says that 100 more people took part in this year’s walk than last year’s inaugural event, and funds raised are significantly higher than the $9,000 raised last year.

“This event is so impactful and full of hope, and I was so excited to be on the committee to make it happen and see it grow,” Pridmore said.

All Out of the Darkness Walks are chaired by volunteers local to that walk’s community.
