Congrats! You’ve walked across the stage, turned your tassel, and tossed your cap. You’ve shaken President Whitaker’s hand and hugged your friends goodbye. You are officially an Anderson University alum.
As you take your next steps, AU would love to walk alongside you. We have resources to help you polish up your résumé, dress to impress in an interview, and network with your fellow AU grads. Keep reading for a complete list of how to stay connected with Anderson University as an alumni.
1. Keep in touch with the Alumni Association!
Now that you’ve graduated, the Alumni Association is the group dedicated to serving you. They work to connect Anderson graduates across the globe with one another and with their alma mater. They organize events for alumni like Homecoming, meet and greets, and other regional gatherings. To make sure you stay in the loop for all opportunities, update your alumni profile here.
Leah Clevenger is Anderson’s Associate Vice President for Alumni Engagement. She is dedicated to serving alumni and making sure they have the resources they need to succeed! To learn more about Leah and her role, view the video below.
2. Share your story.
When potential employers google your name, what comes up? Your Instagram profile? An old Twitter account? These search results don’t tell employers much about your professional skills, and they certainly don’t set your application apart. Consider sharing your life updates with the Alumni Association, and they will work to write an article on your accomplishments. This way, when potential employers google you, all your good news will appear! The Alumni Association looks to feature stories about career advancements, weddings, growing families, volunteerism, awards, and more! To submit your story, fill out this form. And to read news from other alumni, visit this page.
3. Attend an event.
No matter what you’re interested in, AU has an alumni event for you! If you enjoy the arts, consider returning to Anderson to attend a play in Rainey. You’ll also always be a member of the Trojan Army! Come home and cheer for the Trojans any time! All games are free and open to the public, with the exception of basketball and football, which are paid ticketed events. Click here to see a composition schedule of all upcoming events. Or if you’re looking to connect with others in your career, attend a networking event like the Engineering Career Fair. For a full list of upcoming events available to alumni, visit this page.
4. Utilize the Center for Career Development.
Your access to Anderson’s Center for Career Development doesn’t end on your graduation day; the CCD continues to provide career coaching to alumni. Begin accessing these resources by changing your email address on Handshake from your AU email to your personal email address. This way, you will retain access after graduation. From Handshake, you can view and apply to jobs that aren’t visible to the public! You can also schedule career coaching appointments on Handshake, where you can meet with a CCD advisor to review your résumé or cover letter. These resources are invaluable for alumni, especially those still searching for jobs. Even after your graduation day, Anderson University is here to help!
