Anderson University Vice President for Community, Dignity and Inclusive Campus Family Dr. James Noble was a chapel speaker August 25 at Voorhees University, in partnership between AU and Voorhees University through the Ambassador Andrew Young Fellowship.
Dr. Noble’s message to the students was from 2 Timothy 4:7, “A Fight to the Finish the ‘Wright Way,’” with the theme of “Reaching Your College Goal.” Drawing inspiration from the remarkable life of Elizabeth Evelyn Wright, founder of what is now Voorhees University and the Apostle Paul, this sermon challenges students to persevere through life’s difficulties and finish what they start.
Just as Wright overcame opposition, threats, and adversity to fulfill her educational mission, Paul remained faithful to Christ despite persecution and hardship. The sermon reminded students that some things are too important to abandon simply because they become difficult. Through the finished work of Jesus Christ, believers find the strength and inspiration to finish their own race.
One Anderson hosts the fellowship each year on the Anderson University campus. Participating in the fellowship are HBCU colleges that include Voorhees, along with various CCCU colleges. An initiative of the AU Center for Community, Dignity and Inclusive Campus Family, One Anderson celebrates the diversity of God’s Kingdom and affirms that everyone is an insider; no one is an outsider.
