The Director of Graduate Admission and Advising leads the day-to-day operations of graduate admission, enrollment, and advising to ensure timely, consistent, and student-centered support from application through graduation. This role oversees the full graduate enrollment lifecycle, including monitoring the admissions funnel, coordinating application processing, and ensuring graduate admission and advising standards are met through strategic planning and execution in collaboration with academic deans and program chairs. The Director will manage advising touchpoints throughout a student’s academic journey, monitoring registration and persistence trends and provides targeted outreach to support student success, engagement, and retention while partnering closely with Enrollment Services offices such as Anderson Central, the Registrar, and Financial Aid in an effort to achieve the university’s enrollment goals. Additionally, this position supervises and coaches a team of enrollment counselors and academic success advisors, fostering a collaborative, data-informed, and student-focused culture. Responsibilities include recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, and evaluating staff, leading team meetings, and supporting professional development and cross-training initiatives. In partnership with graduate enrollment leadership, the Director will contribute to communication strategies, enrollment events, and international student processes, while ensuring compliance with institutional policies and maintaining efficient, high-quality procedures that support the graduate student experience.
Knowledge equivalent to that gained through a master’s degree and three years of previous experience in admission, advising, or related field is preferred. Proven business and supervisory experience and a general understanding of the graduate application and financial aid process, including the ability to communicate the value of a graduate education to prospective students is desired. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with Workday, Slate or similar CRM systems is preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills, exceptional organization, time management, and attention to detail combined with strong interpersonal skills, the ability to motivate and inspire others, a collaborative team-oriented approach, and the capacity to analyze and solve problems related to graduate enrollment operations is required.
