Associate Director – Communication

Anderson University’s Office of Marketing and Communication invites applications for a full-time, 12 month position as Associate Director of Communication. The Associate Director of Communication is a key member of the Anderson University Office of Marketing and Communication, responsible for advancing the university’s mission and reputation through strategic communication initiatives. Working closely with and reporting to the Executive Director of Public Relations, this role helps develop and implement comprehensive communication and content strategies across multiple platforms to ensure consistent messaging and strong brand integrity, aimed at enhancing the university’s visibility and reputation. The Associate Director produces high-quality content for press releases, articles, reports, and digital platforms while supporting internal communication initiatives that foster engagement across the university community. This role also assists with crisis communications, supports media briefings and press conferences, and collaborates with the marketing team to maximize the reach and impact of communication content. Additionally, this position works closely with the Office of Marketing and Communication’s Director of Operations and Production to ensure timely delivery of print and digital marketing materials, while also helping maintain brand standards across campus.

Knowledge equivalent to that gained through a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, public relations, or related field combined with prior work experience in a similar field is preferred. This role requires a creative and strategic thinker with strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and project management abilities, and exemplary writing skills with proficiency in AP and Chicago style. Familiarity with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Teams, and project management systems like Hive (or similar platforms) is preferred. The ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced, in-office environment while maintaining a professional and cooperative approach, confidentiality, and a commitment to the mission of the university is essential.
