Vaughn Newman is a choreographer, professional dancer, and founder of Vaughn Newman Dance, dedicated to promoting the art of dance in Upstate South Carolina. His dance journey began at William Penn Arts Charter in Philadelphia, PA, and continued with training at Freedom Theater, PHILADANCO, and New World School of the Arts in Miami, FL. During his time in Miami, Vaughn performed with Momentum Dance Company and Brazz Dance Theater.

After moving to Upstate South Carolina in 2009, he collaborated with local studios and theaters, further enriching the community’s arts scene. In January 2022, South Arts honored him as one of the “Emerging Leaders of Color” for his unwavering dedication to the arts. His artistic exploration spans time spent in Accra, Ghana; Havana, Cuba; and most recently, London, delving into traditional, cultural, and spiritual dance forms.

Through his work, Vaughn continues to weave compelling stories using movement, merging spirituality, personal experiences, human connections, spoken word, and evocative choreography to inspire higher consciousness through the arts.
