John Scacchetti

John Scacchetti is a New York City-based dance educator, choreographer, and performer. John enjoys keeping a busy schedule teaching Tap Dance and Musical Theatre Dance at Wagner College, Molly University/ Cap21, Montclair State University, and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. John has also taught Dance at Western Carolina University, The International College of Musical Theatre, and Belhaven University., 

Before earning an MFA in Dance from Montclair State University to focus on teaching, John enjoyed a successful career as a performer. He appeared on Broadway in the 2001 Tony Award-winning revival of 42nd Street and the 2008 revival of Gypsy starring Patti Lupone. John has also performed in national tours of 42nd Street and My Fair Lady, as well as performed roles such as Phil Davis in Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Cosmo Brown in Singin’ in the Rain, George in The Drowsy Chaperone, and Mike in A Chorus Line. 

As a choreographer, John enjoys exploring the art of storytelling and character development through movement and rhythm. His choreography can be seen in dance films showcasing tap dance history’s rich cultural contexts, which he produced, directed, and starred in. John is also no stranger to choreographing musicals for live theatre, with over a dozen shows to his credit across the professional and educational sectors.
