Fast Facts
I teach in the graduate school of nursing at Anderson University because I am deeply committed to integrating compassionate care with evidence-based nursing practice, grounded in Christian values. This unique environment allows me to not only equip future nurse practitioners with the clinical skills and knowledge they need but also to inspire them to approach patient care with empathy, integrity, and a strong sense of purpose. Teaching in this setting gives me the opportunity to foster a holistic approach to nursing that embraces both the physical and spiritual needs of patients, while encouraging students to serve with a heart of service and a commitment to making a meaningful impact in the lives of others.
I wish prospective students knew that becoming a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) is a deeply rewarding career that allows you to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals struggling with mental health conditions. It’s not just about prescribing medications—it’s about providing holistic care, building relationships with patients, and offering them the tools they need to manage their mental health and live fulfilling lives.
South Carolina Palmetto Gold Nurse 2018 Expert Reviewer for South Carolina Board of Nursing
What I find most enjoyable about teaching at Anderson University is the opportunity to integrate faith with education and care. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see students grow not only in their professional skills but also in their understanding of how their values and beliefs can shape their approach as a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
My area of specialty is the management of acute and chronic conditions in behavioral health and geriatric patients.
