Sarah Owens

School of Interior Design
Assistant Professor of Interior Design
Academic Background

Sarah enjoys working with and establishing relationships with the “amazing” students, faculty, and staff at AU.

When her family first moved to South Carolina, she originally started teaching as an adjunct in the School of Interior Design while looking for work with an interior design firm.

“After my first semester teaching, it became my new passion to teach interior design instead of practice it. I thoroughly enjoyed helping the students and aiding them in an understanding of what interior design is.

“Interior design is not all about ‘decorating,’ furniture, and finishes. Interior design entails all aspects of programming, space planning, construction and implementation, as well as furniture, fixtures, and finishes.”

Master of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture and Design, Academy of Art University

B.S in Interior Merchandising and Design, Ohio State University
