Fast Facts
The nursing profession is in perfect alignment with the gospel of Jesus and Christian faith as a mechanism to deliver hope and peace. Teaching at AU I am able to integrate faith and learning throughout my courses and clinical opportunities to demonstrate for future nursing professionals how to integrate these components successfully through whole person care (physical, mental, and spiritual) to promote healing even when a cure is not available.
A true nurse is always assessing whatever is going on in a room, critically thinking and providing the best interventions in every circumstance. We observe more than we speak so we know more that is spoken. There are many paths for nursing. Hospital bedside nursing is only one avenue of nursing. All nurses make significant contributions to their profession through ethical and evidence-based practices.
SC Public Health Association Presentation “Incorporating Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Training into Baccalaureate Nursing Curriculum” in 2024. Co-authored publication of paper by the same title as above in June, 2024. CRC (Creating Resilient Communities) Fellow, 2023. ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) Master Trainer through SC Children’s Trust, 2019.
I love sharing my passion for nursing and the way it closely aligns with my Christian faith. In sharing this strong connection to my career and my faith intentionally and authentically, my goal is to encourage students to grow in their faith walk and in their professional career as Servant Leaders. Watching students make this connection for themselves is deeply humbling and satisfying.
