In my Foundations and Pediatric courses at Anderson University, students engage in a dynamic, hands-on learning experience that combines both theory and practice. In the Foundations course, we cover essential nursing concepts, including patient care, communication skills, and clinical reasoning, ensuring that students develop a solid foundation for their nursing careers. The Pediatric course focuses on the unique needs of children and their families, where students learn how to assess, care for, and communicate effectively with pediatric patients. Both courses emphasize critical thinking, compassionate care, and evidence-based practices to prepare students for real-world nursing challenges. Students can expect a supportive learning environment where they actively participate in discussions, case studies, and clinical simulations, helping them grow into confident and skilled nurses.
I work at Anderson University because I am passionate about educating and mentoring future nurses, equipping them with the foundational knowledge and pediatric expertise needed for excellent patient care. AU’s commitment to faith-based, student-centered learning aligns with my values, allowing me to inspire and guide students in both clinical practice and ethical decision-making. Teaching here gives me the opportunity to shape compassionate, competent nurses who will make a meaningful impact in healthcare.
I wish prospective students knew that nursing is both a challenging and deeply rewarding profession that requires critical thinking, compassion, and lifelong learning. In pediatrics, specifically, working with children and families demands patience, adaptability, and a strong foundation in both medical knowledge and emotional support. Whether in clinical practice or academia, nursing offers endless opportunities to make a meaningful impact, and those who choose this path will find a career filled with purpose, growth, and the ability to change lives.

What I find most enjoyable about teaching at Anderson University is the opportunity to mentor and shape the next generation of nurses in a supportive, faith-based environment. I love seeing my students grow in confidence and competence, especially in pediatric nursing, as they apply their knowledge in clinical settings. The close-knit community at AU allows me to build meaningful relationships with students, fostering both their professional and personal development.
As a nurse practitioner specializing in pediatrics, I provide advanced nursing care to children from infancy through adolescence, focusing on health promotion, disease prevention, and the management of acute and chronic illnesses. As a professor in a nursing program, I contribute to education by teaching pediatric nursing concepts, mentoring students in clinical practice, and conducting research to improve pediatric healthcare outcomes. My expertise spans both direct patient care and academic leadership, bridging the gap between clinical practice and nursing education.
