Guest Speaker: Dawn Smith Jordan
Dawn Smith Jordan is a Christ-follower, singer/songwriter, musician, speaker, charting recording
artist with Urgent Records, and published author, with 17 CDs and 2 books in her body of work.
Dawn grew up the daughter of a Baptist deacon daddy and choir singing mama, and at the age of 9
she began her relationship with Jesus as her Lord and Savior. As a high school student, she felt the
call of God on her life to full-time ministry. In 1985 Dawn’s younger sister Shari was kidnapped and
murdered just two days before her high school graduation, resulting in the largest manhunt in South
Carolina’s history, drawing national attention. In 1986 Dawn received a Bachelor of Music degree in
Vocal Performance from Columbia College in Columbia, SC. She went on to become Miss South
Carolina 1986 and 2nd runner-up to Miss America. The Billy Graham Crusade came to South
Carolina that same year and millions were touched by Dawn’s testimony and her singing of
“Amazing Grace.” God was weaving all of these circumstances together to form a full-time ministry
that would reach around the world.
Dawn is the mother of 2 grown children, Hannah (husband Clayton) and Ross (wife Brianna) and
makes her home in Columbia, SC. In 1997, due to circumstances not of her own choosing, Dawn
went from being a pastor’s wife to a single mother. Forgiveness played a vital role in Dawn’s ability
to find healing, hope and a future.
Dawn Smith Jordan is a simple southern woman who is passionate about sharing the message of
hope God has written into her life to a world desperate to hear. She considers every opportunity a
divine appointment, from the smallest country congregation to the largest auditorium, and she
would love to come to your church.
