Heather Caldwell is a Lecturer of Nursing within the College of Health Professions at Anderson University. She is passionate about helping nursing students grow into confident, skilled professionals. Her teaching focuses on hands-on learning, critical thinking, and real-world application. My classes are dynamic, engaging, and rooted in real-world nursing practice. I strive to create a supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to ask questions, think critically, and apply their knowledge in meaningful ways. Whether in the classroom, simulation lab, or clinical setting, I emphasize hands-on learning, collaboration, and professional growth. My goal is to challenge students while providing the guidance and ‘Practice Pointers’ they need to build confidence and competence as future nurses.
Teaching at AU allows me to be part of a supportive and student-centered learning community that values excellence in nursing education. I am passionate about preparing future nurses with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to succeed.
I wish prospective students knew that nursing is both an art and a science—requiring not only clinical knowledge and technical skills but also compassion, adaptability, and resilience. Nursing is an ever-evolving profession with endless opportunities, from bedside care to leadership, research, and even advanced practice. It is challenging, but it is also one of the most rewarding careers.
The most enjoyable part of teaching at AU is working with passionate and driven nursing students. I love seeing their growth—from their first day in the program to their final clinical experiences—gaining confidence, critical thinking skills, and a deep commitment to patient care. It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of their journey.
My areas of specialty within nursing include medical-surgical nursing, leadership and management, clinical education and curriculum development. Additionally, I am passionate about fostering professional growth and critical thinking skills in nursing students, ensuring they are well-prepared for the diverse and ever-evolving healthcare environment.
