Anderson University hosted a unique summer camp experience equipping teenage males with essential life skills to improve their optimal health and assist them in maximizing every step to their highest aspirations.
The Building Better Bridges program usually happens over nine weeks, however, the Ready 4 Life – Summer Experience gave the campers a chance to participate in a 10 – day camp that gave them a taste of college life.
Upstate Fatherhood Coalition organized the camp especially for males ages 13-19, along with the Anderson University Guest and Auxiliary Services and the AU Office of Diversity and Inclusion. The summer camp experience consisted of an evidence and experiental-based educational curriculum, as well as daily high engagement activities to improve their optimal health. The camp also included a campus tour, field and challenge day at the soccer/lacrosse field and afternoon activities at Brashier Glade.
Upstate Fatherhood Coalition’s mission is to engage fathers in the positive support of their children and to enhance community support for fatherhood throughout the Upstate. Their site in Anderson, South Carolina, serves more than 500 fathers.
