There’s something truly so special about being an Anderson Trojan! It’s more than just a school. It’s more than just a small town. It’s home to so many wonderful people from so many different places. From all of the smiling faces on campus to the streets downtown beautifully lit up at night, there is no denying the warm and welcoming feeling that Anderson embodies. It’s a comforting feeling that stays with you even after you leave. We asked some students and staff around campus what makes Anderson feel like home to them and here’s some of the many sweet things they had to say:
“Anderson feels like a big family. No matter where you come from you’re welcomed with open arms and that sense of belonging is what makes it so special to me and so many others.”
“I love the way everyone comes together for fun events. It’s not just a town but it’s a support system and a place where people really care.”
“When I think about what makes Anderson home it’s the smell of fresh coffee at Common House and the sound of laughter echoing through Books and Beans. It’s the little things that make it feel like mine.”
“Anderson’s welcoming and kind culture gives me pride in where I live and I’m so happy to be part of that.”
One of the biggest and most anticipated events of the year is Homecoming and Family Day! This is a special time when the Anderson community all comes together to celebrate everything that makes Anderson so special to each of us. It’s the perfect opportunity to invite your family into your home, to show them around your campus, cheer on the Trojan’s football team, and share with them the joy that it is to be a part of this community!
The festivities will begin on Friday, October 3rd at 4:00 pm when our very own Trojan softball team takes on SWU at home. Later that evening you will not want to miss a thrilling volleyball match against Carson Newman, and the highly anticipated Homecoming Dance — a favorite tradition where students dress up, gather with friends, and dance the night away. For those who love the arts, The Prince of Egypt takes the stage at Henderson Auditorium, promising an unforgettable performance.
Saturday is truly packed with opportunities to connect and celebrate. The morning starts with a peaceful Parent Prayer Walk at Brashier Glade, followed by a special retirement celebration for Pam Bryant Ross. By late morning, the campus buzzes with excitement as the football stadium parking lots open, DJ Aussie G pumps tunes at the pavilion, and delicious food options are available across campus—from the Culinary Center to popular spots inside Melvin and Dolly Younts Stadium.
At noon, don’t miss The Trojan Walk at Spero Financial Field, where Trojans of all ages come together to show their school spirit. Meanwhile, faculty host a Meet & Greet near the Softball Stadium, and alumni gather for a special College of Business & Economics tailgate. The afternoon’s highlight is the football game against UVA Wise, with the Homecoming Court presentation following shortly after — moments filled with tradition, pride, and community spirit.
As the sun sets, the celebration continues with the Ivy Leaves Centennial Dinner and Reading, followed by another chance to enjoy The Prince of Egypt in the evening. It’s a day full of laughter, memories, and everything that makes Anderson feel like home.
And don’t forget to slow down a bit on Sunday, October 5th, with church services alongside your fellow students and family, followed by a final matinee performance of The Prince of Egypt at 2 PM — a perfect way to close out the weekend.
Here’s what some of our students shared about their favorite parts of Homecoming:
“The dance is hands down my favorite part! Everyone dresses up, the energy is incredible, and it’s the perfect way to kick off such a special weekend.”
“I love taking pictures with my friends before the dance. We laugh so much and make memories that will last forever.”
“Homecoming brings everyone together — students, families, and staff. It’s such a fun night and weekend, and I always start the next week with so much joy from the memories I made.”
We can’t wait to see YOU at this year’s Homecoming and Family Day. Whether you’re twirling on the dance floor at Carolina Wren Park, cheering in the stands, or simply soaking in the warm, buzzing spirit around campus, Anderson will be glowing with the heart and soul that make it truly home.
Go Trojans!
