Storm Report

Jan 22: 12:00PM

Anderson University is transitioning to remote campus operations (e-learning) for Monday, January 26 in anticipation of inclement weather arriving in our region over the weekend. No classes will meet in person on Monday.

A decision about operations beyond Monday has yet to be made. Please carefully monitor your email and/or other University channels of communication for updates.

Please note: some staff members may be asked to report to campus to support emergency operations. Work directly with your supervisor to determine if you are needed to support emergency operations.

The Anderson University Emergency Response Team recognizes that circumstances for faculty, staff, and students are unique. In other words, these changes will affect some more than others. However, the most important factor is your safety, and all decisions were made with this concern in mind.

In summary, faculty, staff, students, and their families should prioritize their personal health and safety. Travel plans to and from campus should be carefully evaluated in light of rapidly developing weather conditions. Those with the means to travel to and from campus safely should use their best discretion.

Here are a few other things to keep in mind:

  • For those who choose to remain on campus or are unable to leave or arrive at their destination safely, essential services will be available. Keeping our campus community safe and secure is Anderson University’s top priority.
  • Faculty and staff should work with their supervisor to determine staffing needs and expectations.
  • Given the forecasted extreme cold and the possibility of power outages, there is an increased risk of frozen or ruptured pipes in residential spaces. Residents are strongly encouraged to take precautionary measures to protect personal belongings, including securing items that could be damaged by water or extreme temperatures.
  • Residential students will receive specific communication about housing procedures.

Again, faculty, staff, and students should prioritize their own health and safety.

Preparations have been made to ensure campus facilities are prepared to safely accommodate our students in the event of a power outage.

Specifically, we have secured additional resources including, but not limited to, extra food and water for the G. Ross Anderson Jr. Student Center. The facility is equipped with generators to maintain electricity in the event of a power outage.

If necessary, more information will be released as it becomes available and in as timely a fashion as possible. The Emergency Response Team will continue daily meetings until the storm has passed. Please monitor all communication channels including, but not limited to, your email; RAVE; the Anderson University website; official University social media channels; and local news reports.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding—and please stay tuned.
