Anderson University announced that it is adding a new Master of Medical Science in Pathologists’ Assistant program enrolling for the fall 2022 semester.
A Pathologists’ Assistant is an allied health professional who is a mid-level healthcare provider. This fully seated graduate-level program located at the University’s new Bearwood Campus along Highway 81 prepares students with backgrounds in chemistry or biology for a career assisting pathologists in both surgical and autopsy pathology.
“The Pathologists’ Assistant program is the first of its kind in South Carolina and I’m so glad it’s located at Anderson University,” said Stephanie Talbott, director of Anderson University’s Pathologists’ Assistant Program. “This program allows students to experience another side of health care that is not often seen while also meeting the needs of the community.”
Upon completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification exam. Prospective students may start applying for these certificate programs now for the fall 2022 semester start date.
The Master of Medical Science in Pathologists’ Assistant program is currently in the process of applying to be a NAACLS accredited university with the intent to be within the ‘serious applicant’ status before the first class sits for the ASCP exam. It is also pending approval by SACSCOC.
