The Kim S. Miller Family Enterprise Institute of South Carolina (FEISC) is pleased to announce Stuckey’s as its newest member. The FEISC is dedicated to supporting family-owned businesses by providing a platform for family businesses to share best practices, navigate unique challenges, and achieve long-term success.
Founded in 1937 by W.S. Stuckey Sr. as a humble pecan stand in Eastman, Georgia, Stuckey’s grew into a beloved chain of American roadside convenience stores known for its pecan log rolls, pralines and other Southern treats. Despite facing challenges and a decline in the late 20th Century, the company has experienced slow but steady revival of the brand in recent years under the leadership of Stephanie Stuckey and the incredible team at Stuckey’s, including CEO, RG Lamar, Jr. Emphasizing a return to its roots, focusing on quality, and reinvigorating the brand’s nostalgic charm, Stuckey’s is once again thriving as a symbol of American road trip culture.
Dr. Brad Bechtold, executive director of the FEISC, said, “We are beyond excited to welcome Stuckey’s to the Family Enterprise Institute of South Carolina. Their rich history and inspiring comeback story align perfectly with our mission to support family businesses. We look forward to having Stuckey’s as a member of the FEISC and learning from their experiences.”
Stephanie Stuckey, Chair of Stuckey’s, shared her vision joining the Institute, “At Stuckey’s, we are honored to join the FEISC. This membership will provide us with invaluable resources and a supportive community as we continue to grow and innovate. We hope to share our journey and learn from other family businesses, fostering a network of mutual growth and success. By joining FEISC, Stuckey’s continues its legacy of innovation and community engagement, contributing to a thriving network of family enterprises across South Carolina.”
