Low Honored for Breast Cancer Research at National Symposium

Jonathan Low, a Biochemistry major at Anderson University, was awarded a National Research Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research at the Ernest Everett Just Scientific Symposium on Feb. 23. Low conducted his research at the Anderson University Center for Cancer Research under Dr. Diana Ivankovic, Professor of Biology and Director of the Anderson University Undergraduate Research Center.

Low presented his research, titled, “Utilization of Ordinary Differential Equations to Model Breast Cancer Cell Growth and the Effects of Red Clover and Indigo on MCF-7 Breast Cancer Cell Line,” at the symposium. He is the third AU student to receive the honor.

Organized by the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), the symposium was held in Charleston, SC.

AU Students Score Big at Theater Festival

Students at the South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University were among the honorees at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) Region IV.

Kennedy Roberts, a senior Costume Design major, took second place for her work in SCSA’s production of Othello 2020. And Lena Bledsoe, a junior, made it to the top 16 of the Irene Ryan Acting Competition.

The KCACTF Region IV festival took place Feb. 6 through Feb. 11 on the campus of Georgia Southwestern State University.

2018 Emergency Management Graduate Promoted to General Manager of Private Ambulance Company

Josh Shore, who will finish his degree in Emergency Management from the Anderson University School of Public Service and Administration this spring, was named general manager of Medshore Ambulance, the largest private ambulance service in South Carolina. He’ll oversee day-to-day operations of the Anderson-based company.

Shore has been with Medshore since 2000, most recently as its operations manager. The company provides medical transport in 17 South Carolina counties, as well as 911 services to Anderson, Barnwell and Chesterfield counties.
