Anderson University graduate Elizabeth McDonald was named 2018-2019 Teacher of the Year at Manning High School in Clarendon County, South Carolina.
“The most rewarding part of my career in education is getting to be a part of the lives of so many young people,” McDonald said. “Having the ability to take a student from strongly disliking social studies and history to being able to tolerate it or even love it is an awesome feeling.”
McDonald, who has been teaching for five years, has spent the last two in Clarendon School District 2. She earned a master degree from the Anderson University College of Education.
McDonald is a member of the Palmetto State Teachers’ Association, the S.C. Council for the Social Studies and the National Council for the Social Studies, S.C. Geographic Alliance. She teaches violin lessons and helps Manning High School’s Student Council with various school service projects, including the Maranatha Food Bank, food drives and the first Fall Festival for children in District 2.
