Dan Debenport

Based in New York City, Dan Debenport is a professional singer, actor, teacher, and author. Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, he has performed across the United States in theatre, television, and film, including nearly eight years with the North American Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s record-breaking The Phantom of the Opera. Additional stage credits include the National Tour of Susan Stroman’s The Music Man, multiple performances as Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music, Les Misérables, and too many other productions to list.

On screen, he has appeared in numerous television programs, including NBC’s Law & Order: SVU as Judge Aidala, as well as three films, a Spanish-language commercial, industrial films, and a wide range of other performances.

In addition to his performing career, he has taught, coached, and presented masterclasses for performers across the country, working with students at all levels of experience and helping them develop both vocal technique and authentic storytelling through song while navigating the professional audition process.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and a Master’s degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, with extensive undergraduate and graduate study in voice and music, along with private acting study with leading coaches in New York and Los Angeles. His background includes more than 45 years of dedicated study and performance experience.

He is also the author of the children’s book series I Like . . ., written to encourage curiosity, learning, and joy in young readers.
