Shawna Smithbauer, Ph.D., LPC is an Assistant Professor at Anderson University in their Clinical Mental Health Counseling program and serves as their clinical coordinator. Her approach to counseling combines a trauma-informed, holistic, bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach that integrates a faith-based perspective. She has extensive clinical experience working with various clinical issues from neurodivergence to trauma, anxiety, and depression. She has extensive experience as a clinical supervisor and providing cross-cultural supervision.

My classes are a combination of learning, discussion-based, and activities. I think learning is a collaborative and active experience; therefore, I love to integrate discussions for you to include your insights, learnings, and experiences. I also like to include role-plays and other activities for you to practice and apply your knowledge and skills.

My specialties within the counseling field are wellness, counselor wellness, supervision, and cross-cultural supervision. My clinical experience ranges from private practice, college counseling, intensive behavioral health services to working with various clinical issues from neurodivergence to trauma, anxiety, and depression.
