Fast Facts

I attended a faith-based institution for my undergraduate education, and it was a formative experience for me. I feel privileged to be able to teach students during these important years of young adulthood, which are usually pivotal in students’ intellectual growth and personal faith development.

English and the humanities are valuable fields of study. Most employers appreciate the critical thinking skills, creativity, and communication skills that English majors bring to their professions. English is so much more than just a one-way ticket to teaching or making a latte. Our alumni have gone on to many interesting and valued professions on the other side of graduation, and they often return to campus to share their wisdom and expertise with our current students.

Dr. Ellisor-Catoe won the South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities Excellence in Teaching Award in 2020.

AU students are engaged and curious learners, and I love the energy they bring to the study of literature and the classroom.
