Academic Background
Nara Kim is an assistant professor and a director of Art Education at Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. Kim’s research interest is in how art education can empower culturally and linguistically diverse students’ voices in U.S. school settings and interdisciplinary art education including STEAM and technology-based art practices.

My intro-level class combines lecture, discussion, research, lesson plan design, teaching, and public presentation. In addition, it includes a required field experience, such as observing and teaching in K-12 local classrooms based on grade level. Upper-level classes are more focused, involving topic-based in-depth discussions, extensive lesson plan design, and hands-on teaching experiences.
