Fast Facts

I previously taught CIS 101 on-line for a number of years. Then I took a break and focused on public education. I have since retired and now am an English 101/102 adjunct professor. My classes are a combination of discussion, group work, lecture, and hands on activities.

I just love teaching at AU! The students are some of the best behaved, most motivated, and most respectful I’ve ever had the privilege to teach. I enjoy the smaller class sizes so that I can better learn who my students are and effectively meet their individual educational needs. The English curriculum is well-thought out and flows nicely from one course to the next. The recent curriculum redesign is awesome and a joy to work with.

I strive to help my students learn that no piece of writing is ever “perfect” or “finished.” Writing can always be improved upon. I wish students understood just how important the skill of writing will be in their chosen professions.

Of the seven semesters I taught CIS 101 on-line for Anderson University, my average IDEA Teacher Rating of 1-5 was a 4.75.

While teaching in public education under the EVAAS evaluation system that had a score of 1-5 with a 3 being considered the primary goal, I scored 4’s and 5’s each year.

I presented with one of my Clemson professors at the Middle Grades Conference in Myrtle Beach while earning my Masters Degree.

Served as a teacher mentor and teacher ADEPT evaluator in the public education system.

The students are the best. I love helping them achieve their academic goals and enjoy getting to teach students from all academic areas of study. The English curriculum redesign is awesome and very user friendly. My colleagues are a joy to work with, and parking at the athletic campus is a breeze.

I previously taught English, Literature, Social Studies, and Theater. I am skilled in the following:
–Literary Analysis: Expertise in interpreting and analyzing various literary texts and genres.
–Creative Writing: Skills in guiding students through poetry, fiction, and play writing exercises.
–Theatrical Techniques: Knowledge of acting methods, stagecraft, and directing for performance.
–Critical Thinking: Ability to foster analytical skills through discussions and debates on themes and characters.
–Curriculum Development: Experience in designing engaging lesson plans that align with educational standards.
–Diverse Literature: Familiarity with multicultural and contemporary works to broaden students’ perspectives.
