I’m a very high energy teacher. I love what I do and want to get the most out of my students to help them achieve their goals in life. You will be challenged but you will be equipped with the knowledge to meet and best that challenge.

Applied Trumpet Lessons, Music Theory (Sophomore Level) Trumpet Ensemble

As the home of the South Carolina School of the Arts, AU offers degrees in music performance, education, commercial music, and worship leadership. These are the areas of focus today’s students need to be studying for the ever changing music industry. I think AU is helping to prepare students to overcome any challenges they will face not only in the music business, but also in life. At AU, we invest in the whole person, not just the talent the student may possess.

It is possible to have a career in the performing arts and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. If you love music, can’t imagine yourself doing anything else, and are willing to work hard to always improve and refine what you do, you can be incredibly successful. The journey never ends and that is exciting. It makes it a journey worth taking!!

My wife, Lauren Imhoff (AU Dance Faculty) and I have two little girls. My family is my greatest achievement. In the world of performing arts, there is a lot of time that is spent away from family, whether in rehearsals or on a job. Finding the balance to maintain that lifestyle while safeguarding my time with my beautiful family is challenge. Any day I have with the three of them is the best day of my life.

The sense of community on campus makes for an incredible atmosphere. Whether in my dealings with fellow faculty or the students, there is a level of respect, professionalism, and compassion that makes it a remarkable place to work.
