Walking. Writing. Pedaling a bicycle. Throwing a curve ball. The variety of human movement and activity is complex and amazing. You can find a career exploring the science of human motion while helping others reach their physical potential in our School of Human Performance.
Three Concentrations in Kinesiology
As a student in the School of Human Performance, you will earn a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and have the option to pursue one of three concentrations: athletic training, exercise specialist or pre-physical therapy.
Those in the pre-physical therapy and athletic training tracks are frequently headed to graduate school to pursue credentials in those fields. Exercise specialist is a concentration that can lead to careers from personal training and corporate wellness to cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
Skill and Compassion
In addition to academic rigor, small class sizes and state-of-the-art facilities, you can expect us to help you weave knowledge of the field with knowledge of the Savior. The result: your growth as a health care professional who is both compassionate and skilled.
From Corporate Wellness to Physical Therapy
As society gets older, there’s a growing demand for experts to help patients recover from illness and injury. There’s also an increasing awareness of the benefits of lifetime wellness and a need for professional instruction. In addition, the science of athletic performance continues to develop, creating jobs from the lab to the playing field.
AU kinesiology grads are well-equipped to pursue careers in corporate wellness, exercise physiology, nutrition, health and wellness. You’ll also have a strong academic base to pursue a graduate degree: from a master’s degree in exercise physiology, nutrition or athletic training, to a doctorate in physical therapy or osteopathic medicine.
