A Just Mission for a New Era:Cultivating Dignity, Imagination, and Mutuality in Global Missions

September 29
We stand at a pivotal moment in the history of Christian mission—a moment pregnant with possibility and hope. Yes, we must honestly acknowledge that some traditional approaches have caused unintended harm, but this recognition opens the door to something far more beautiful and faithful. This seminar is your invitation to courageously step into a new paradigm of mission that is more just, collaborative, and reflective of God’s Kingdom. Rather than abandoning mission, we’re called to redeem it by cultivating a robust Christian social imagination that envisions a world where all people flourish as the image-bearers they were created to be, building our practice upon the unshakeable foundation of human dignity, and embodying a radical, biblical mutuality that transforms our relationships, methods, and hearts. This one-day gathering with renowned missions thought leader Mekdes Haddis is designed as a catalyst for that transformation—a dedicated space where students, scholars, pastors, and practitioners can wrestle with profound questions and emerge equipped with both theological framework and practical tools for a more faithful and effective missional future. Together, we will move beyond critique to construction, guided by one of today’s most vital voices in missional theology, and discover that the future of mission is not something to fear, but something to embrace with joy and anticipation.
Morning Lecture (10:10 AM): The Influence of Culture on Missional Movements
The day will begin with a deep, historically-informed exploration of the relationship between culture and mission. This session will lay the essential groundwork for the day, moving beyond a simplistic understanding of “contextualization” to a more profound analysis of
how culture shapes our theology, our methods, and our very understanding of the Gospel.
Afternoon Workshop (3:00 PM): Mutuality and the Future of Mission
Following the theoretical foundations of the morning, this workshop will be an intensely practical and interactive session focused on embedding the principles of mutuality into our lives and ministries. This is where theology meets praxis. Guided by Mekdes Haddis, participants will move from concept to application, working through real-world scenarios and developing actionable strategies.
Participants will leave this workshop not with a simple checklist, but with a renewed mind, a reoriented heart, and a set of diagnostic tools to begin the long, beautiful work of building just and mutual partnerships in their own contexts.
Note: Seating for this interactive session is strictly limited to ensure a high-quality, participatory experience. Early registration is essential.
Special Book Giveaway: A limited number of complimentary copies of A Just Mission: Laying Down Power and Embracing Mutuality will be given out. This exclusive giveaway ensures that you can continue your learning journey with Haddis’s complete theological framework long after the seminar concludes. Additional copies will be available for purchase. This is a must-read for anyone serious about the future of global mission.
