Anderson University will celebrate its graduates in two ceremonies at Henderson Auditorium in the Rainey Fine Arts Center.

More than 400 degrees will be awarded December 15 during Winter Commencement at Anderson University. 

There will be two ceremonies, both at Henderson Auditorium in the Rainey Fine Arts Center.

The 10 a.m. ceremony will recognize graduates of the Center for Cybersecurity, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business, College of Education, and the School of Public Service and Administration.

The 4 p.m. ceremony will recognize graduates of the College of Christian Studies, College of Health Professions, Center for Leadership and Organizations, and the South Carolina School of the Arts.

The commencement speaker will be Paige Ellisor-Catoe, faculty Chair and associate professor of English. Beyond the classroom, Dr. Ellisor-Catoe has served as the ENG 101/102 Coordinator since 2016; she was the lead author for the institution’s Quality Enhancement Plan, AU PRO; and she has been named a Digital Learning Innovator by the Center for Innovation and Digital Learning.  Dr. Ellisor-Catoe also won the South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities Excellence in Teaching Award in 2020. Dr. Ellisor-Catoe, who joined the Anderson University faculty in 2011, earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Religion/Philosophy from Presbyterian College. She continued her studies at the University of Georgia, where she earned her Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in English literature.

“In addition to degrees presented to the graduates, a posthumous degree will be presented in the morning ceremony to family members of Alex McMinn, who passed away earlier this fall, during his final semester.”

Honorary degrees will be presented to Dean Woods, president of the Foothills Community Foundation, in the 10 a.m. ceremony and Carol Burdette, chief executive officer of the United Way of Anderson County, in the 4 p.m. ceremony.
