North Charleston, S.C. – Law enforcement professionals are responsible for making decisions every day that can have life-or-death ramifications for themselves and others. The Master of Criminal Justice program offered through Anderson University’s Command College of South Carolina provides these individuals with the tools and training they need to make those crucial decisions with confidence. This executive degree program will be available at the Lowcountry Graduate Center in North Charleston with classes starting in January 2017, upon receiving approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
“Anderson University’s program provides not only knowledge of policy and liability issues but also the role of the commercial and social media in the shaping of public opinion. Instruction places special emphasis on the administration of justice in today’s culturally diverse American society, with community cohesiveness, safety, and wellness foremost in mind. We welcome this fine Upstate institution to our repertoire of offerings for advancing careers throughout the Lowcountry,” said Dr. Nancy Muller, director of the Lowcountry Graduate Center.
The graduate degree will be offered in a hybrid format enabling students to receive online course content and spend two full days each month meeting at the Lowcountry Graduate Center. A course will also be offered each May at the Attorney General’s Office in Columbia.
“This leadership program is specifically designed to prepare working professionals to move up to middle management or senior executive positions within criminal justice entities including police departments, court systems, corrections, and juvenile justice at the local, state, and federal levels,” stated George Ducworth, coordinator of recruitment and career development in Anderson University’s School of Public Service and Administration.
Classes include guest speakers who are experienced criminal justice professionals throughout the Southeast, mock drills and press conferences, group projects, and case studies based on actual historical events.

The Lowcountry Graduate Center will host a reception on September 15 from 4 – 6 p.m. celebrating the launch of this degree in North Charleston.
