Director of Special Events and Administrative Assistant for the Development Office

Anderson University’s Office of Development invites applications for a full-time Director of Special Events and Administrative Assistant. Anderson University is an innovative, entrepreneurial, premier comprehensive, liberal arts university affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. The Director of Special Events and Administrative Assistant will plan, manage and execute complex special events for the University related to development/institutional advancement, alumni, athletics, public relations and others assigned by the President during the year, with special attention to the allocated budget and time constraints. Assigned events include but are not limited to: The President’s Gala and Donor Appreciation Dinner, Foundation Banquets and Board meetings, AU Football Jamboree, and A-Day and Founder’s Day events. Additionally, this position will serve as the hospitality coordinator, welcoming Development Office guests into the historic Rainey House and will provide critical administrative support for the Development Office, assisting with alumni and parent engagement, church engagement, and corporate and annual giving activities. To achieve department and university goals and objectives, database and social media management and other departmental projects may be assigned.

A bachelor’s degree and a minimum level of at least two or more years of progressively responsible administrative support experience in a professional office environment is required. Proven event or project management experience, the ability to work collaboratively, decisively, and showcase strong communication skills is desired. Proficiency in MS Office and database management software is preferred. A passion for Christian higher education is essential.
