The South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University invites applications for a part-time faculty of music in Music History. The position is available for August 2024.  Anderson University is a comprehensive, liberal arts institution affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. Candidates with a strong Christian value system, lifestyle, and commitment to the integration of faith and learning are encouraged to apply. Pay rates are commensurate with credentials and experience.

Qualifications: Professional credentials and teaching experience in Western Music and diverse topics in music history. Candidates should demonstrate a strong record of teaching music and a successful record of teaching at the collegiate level is preferred. A doctorate or master’s degree in music and musicology is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in music with coursework in music history is required.

The South Carolina School of the Arts

The South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University is a nationally recognized school that offers robust training for professional visual, musical and theatrical artists who are serious about both their art and Christian faith.  We mentor students to develop their craft to its fullest potential so they may thrive professionally and serve others through the arts.  We believe that intense transformative mentorship inspires the current generation of student artists. Alumni are employed in the nation’s musical and theatrical centers and across the world.

The South Carolina School of the Arts offers Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music degrees with majors and concentrations in graphic design, painting and drawing, ceramics, art education, photography, musical theatre, theatrical design, acting and directing, dance, commercial music, worship leadership, music education, and performance.  Each of the three departments within the South Carolina School of the Arts are fully accredited by their respective national accrediting agencies (NASM, NASAD, and NAST).

Availability to teach courses on site is preferred, but music history courses can be taught remotely if not available for on-site teaching.
