Bachelor of Human Services (BHS), Human Services: Gerontology – FLEX

Program Overview

The Human Services: Gerontology concentration educates you on emotions, behavior, and environmental elements that impact people. You’ll learn how to bring peace to your elderly clients’ lives with a compassionate, professional approach. At the same time, you’ll become aware of the statistics, cultural perceptions, and services for the aging population. Your seasoned professors have real-world expertise and will work with you to expand your knowledge and improve your skills. This program is conveniently structured in a 7-week flexible path format for working adults, which gives you the opportunity to complete it at an accelerated rate.

A specialization in gerontology equips you for roles in senior centers, hospice care, hospitals, and social services agencies. The opportunities are as numerous as the growing needs of our senior population. Specific positions include intake coordinator, community outreach specialist, case manager, and a home care administrative services director. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a realistic salary range for someone with this degree and emphasis can earn between $33,510 and $45,360.
