Fast Facts

My classes are dynamic, engaging, and filled with opportunities for students to practice speaking Spanish in authentic contexts. My students understand that I value their effort rather than their ability to speak “perfectly.”

I teach all levels of Spanish at AU, including elementary, intermediate, and advanced language classes (SPA 111, 112, 211, 212, 305, 405) as well as literature and culture and civilization courses.

Graduating from a small, Christian, liberal arts college taught me to appreciate the relationships I developed with faculty, staff, and students. These relationships helped lay the groundwork for my professional life as a Christian, scholar, and teacher. My desire is to develop these same relationships and share the love of Christ with the AU community.

Studying a foreign language is a transformative experience because it provides learners the opportunity to engage cultures and communities different from their own. In doing so, foreign language learners see God’s creation through a wider, more diverse lens.

As a graduate student I was awarded the College of Arts and Sciences Certificate for Outstanding Teaching at the University of Kentucky (2008) .

I enjoy the hospitable and authentic community I have experienced at AU.
