Teaching at AU

How would you describe your classes to someone who has never attended one?

I am a big proponent of business students doing real live business projects for real business owners - communicating, planning, and executing marketing strategy to the business owner themselves and getting practice for their future career success.
I also believe in a balanced classroom. Every student learns differently and has unique personalities, so I think it's important to allow those personalities to come out in their work and relationships in the classroom environment. I think students learn better when class is fun, the material is engaging and challenging (but reasonable), and the assignments are relevant (not just theoretical) to the real world that they will face when they graduate college.

Teaching at AU is my dream job! Years ago, I was a student, BCM President, and later an Alumni Board President here at Anderson University. To me, it is the very best private Christian university in the country – a place where students grow spiritually, academically, personally, and professionally. I cannot think of anywhere else I would want to be than teaching and mentoring the most amazing students in the world.

There are many different types of jobs that fall under the marketing umbrella. These jobs vary greatly in skill sets and interests. Part of my job as a professor is to help students find their natural God-given talents and passions and then point them toward careers that will actually use those strengths. If they can work out of their strengths, their jobs will have meaning and greater success beyond just a paycheck.

I run a not-for-profit martial arts school that uses karate and ju-jitsu to spread the gospel to our community.

My background is in the business world – not academics. As a former bank officer and marketing manager, I love teaching students to think beyond academic theory and learn to solve real business problems – with the goal of preparing them for real business careers!

AU is a place where great people, diversity of thought, and solid Biblical principles come together with a unified purpose of preparing the next generation for Godly leadership in the world. For me, interacting with these amazing and intelligent people is a joy and makes every day unique and fun.
