Academic Background

David was the founding director of the Anderson Senior Follies, as well as director of Center Stage at Anderson College, a professional performing arts series (1985-92).

David believes that God’s calling in each student’s life is unique. “I encourage students to pursue their creative calling by cultivating and exercising multiple skills in their major. In this way they more fully see the options and diversify their foundation. It is also important for students to cultivate leadership and entrepreneurial skills during their college experience.”

Bachelor of Fine Arts, Illinois Wesleyan University, Acting and Directing

Master of Arts, University of Minnesota, Theatre Arts

Doctor of Philosophy, University of Illinois, Theatre History and Criticism

Fast Facts

My classes are intense, but fun. I get excited about my material and believe it is my responsibility to transmit that enthusiasm for the subject directly to my students. It is a privilege and joy to teach at Anderson University.

Theatre History I and II

In college I was passionate about my faith and my art. During my master’s work, I was led to take a theatre position at Judson College, in Elgin, Illinois. My seven years at Judson confirmed my calling to work in the theatre as a Christ follower. I remain as passionate about this calling as I was in 1978.
