Argentina Spring 2018

Course Information: 3 credits – General Education

Course Title: IS 398, Problem–Based Learning Crosses Borders: Addressing Shared Issues in the United States and Argentina

Course Description: This course will examine issues common to both the United States and Argentina. The economic, cultural, educational, scientific and ethical dimensions of the issues will be explored for both countries. Students will look at the issues from their discipline perspectives and use a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach to collaboratively design solutions. In addition, students will visit Argentina, staying with local families in order to be immersed in the culture and further evaluate potential ways to address shared issues. During the home stay students will participate in a local service project with the local community.

Travel Dates: March 9–17, 2018

Price: $3,050.00

Housing/Accommodations: Local host families

Eligibility Requirements: Students must be eligible juniors or seniors (at least a 2.5 GPA) and who have not attended a previous AU Abroad program.

Scholarship: Scholarships are awarded to reduce the cost for travel, which is an additional fee from tuition and fees and charged as part of student’s registration for program. To be eligible for the AU Abroad scholarship of up to $1,000.00, students must either be a junior or senior. Scholarship amount depends upon GPA, class standing and financial need. (Sophomores nursing students are also eligible for AU Abroad scholarships.)
