The latest edition of Synthesis, the award-winning online magazine produced by students in the Anderson University College of Arts and Sciences, is now online.

The Winter 2021 issue takes a tour of the exciting new Digital Media Studio now in use at downtown Anderson’s historic Chiquola Building. Features also include a new environmental science degree being offered by the College of Arts and Sciences and there’s also a look at the demanding yet rewarding routine of biochemistry students.

College of Arts and Sciences alumni stories include an alumna who was part of a team that developed a lifesaving ventilator app to train medical professionals as they treat COVID-19 patients, offering resources in multiple languages. Also, there’s the story of how a communication alumnus is breathing new life into his hometown’s newspaper.

Faculty features include an update on new faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences; also an article about the rich, diverse academic community of College of Arts and Sciences faculty who represent a variety of cultures around the globe, including New Zealand, Nigeria and Ireland.

Also in this issue of Synthesis is a look at a history major creating a women’s history exhibit in the Anderson County Museum, meeting the challenge of presenting artifacts in engaging ways; also an article about the creation of a new honor society for history students.

Synthesis is produced by students in the Department of Communication’s Editing and Layout course, taught by Professor Robert Reeves.
