Bachelor of Arts (BA), Art: 3D Studies

Program Overview

The 3D Studies concentration at Anderson University is a dynamic program that will teach you the practice of ceramics and sculpture. You’ll learn about materials and techniques for clay, metal, wood, plaster, mixed media, and technology. You’ll learn how to build with clay, sculpt, throw on the wheel, load and fire kilns, plasma cut, weld, 3D-print objects, and build with wood. As a graduate, you’ll be emboldened to make your mark on society in a sincere and creative way. Potential careers include professional artist, instructor, pottery designer, art director, public artist, or fabricator.

Over the course of your time as a 3D Studies student you will learn to use fabrication technology, have hands-on experience in studio art, and learn to work with various tools and machinery needed to create your work. By the time you graduate, you will have knowledge in hand-building and wheel-throwing ceramics, wood and metal working, and digital fabrication.

No previous degree is required to enroll in this program.
Official high school or GED transcripts will need to be submitted as part of the application process for this program. Transfer students must submit official transcripts from their previous school.

Two essays (prompts) or official SAT, ACT, or CLT scores are required during the application process.
Anderson University has a rolling admission process (students are notified when the are accepted whenever that is during the year) but students are encouraged to apply by the following dates: December 1st for the best scholarship consideration and no later than July 1st to begin in the fall semester.

Many schools that offer programs in the 3D arts make students choose between studying ceramics or sculpture, but the 3D Studies program at Anderson University focuses on both allowing you the opportunity to gain experience in both tracks. As you go through our 3D studies program you will have the opportunity to work with both traditional and contemporary tools and materials to produce your art. Our small class sizes provide you with the chance to have one-on-one instruction and mentorship from professors who are professionals in the field.
